The game is best played with 4 players in two teams. Points are awarded to the opposing team if the ball hits the centre twice or touches the ground. A match goes up to 11 points and lasts about 15 minutes.

But how exactly does this new pickleball/spikeball xxl outdoor game for children and adults work? After the net basket with the playing field has been set up, two teams of 4 players face each other. The players of one team do not stand next to each other, but opposite each other. One player starts by hitting the ball into the centre of the court (centre of the basket) so that it bounces back up in the direction of the opposite player. This player takes the ball and the team now has 3 shots before the ball has to be hit back into the centre.

The player can hit the ball back to his team-mate (set) or hit it once in the air (think bump) and then to his team-mate. On the third stroke in the same team (regardless of which player), the ball MUST be smashed back into the centre of the court. After each smash, the teams have a maximum of two strokes that are not smashes. The third stroke must again be a smash, i.e. a stroke into the centre of the court.

If the ball is played into the centre of the court, it must then bounce so high that it comes over the edge of the net and does not hit the centre of the court twice, otherwise the other team gets a point. The same happens if the ball touches the ground. A match goes to 11 points and there must be a 2-point gap between the teams. A match lasts 15 minutes on average. It all sounds much more complicated in theory than it is, so it's best to try it out straight away!
